Champions Again — HKU Fencing Team Brings Home the Championship!

The HKU Fencing Team has once again showcased their exceptional talent and unwavering dedication by clinching the championship title at the recent USFHK Fencing Competitions. This remarkable achievement underscores the team's relentless pursuit of excellence and their commitment to upholding the high standards of HKU athletics. Competing against some of the top universities in the region, the HKU Fencing Team exhibited remarkable skill, strategy, and sportsmanship throughout the event. Athletes from various disciplines demonstrated impeccable technique, and their hard work paid off as they conquered numerous challenges to secure their prestigious victory.

Coach Kyle Chan expressed his pride in the team's performance, stating, "Preparation is the key to success. The passion and dedication of our fencers fill me with pride as their coach. Congratulations to HKU students for successfully defending their title!"

Coach Jeff Yuen added, "Despite facing strong competitors this year, our athletes excelled remarkably, securing medals across all six weapon categories—a truly commendable achievement. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our team captains and core members, who played a crucial role in organizing the competition and fostering a positive training environment. Their contributions have been vital to our success."

A Special Recognition

The HKU Fencing Team extends its heartfelt gratitude to its outstanding TADAS Sports Scholars, WONG Anson Tsz Wun and Summer Fay SIT, for their exemplary contributions, which were crucial to the team’s success.

Participating in inter-university competitions for the first time was both an exciting and rewarding experience,” said Anson. “Representing HKU instilled in me a strong sense of pride, and the teamwork and support within our team made the journey even more special.

This was my first time fencing at the USFHK inter-university competition, and I had so much fun! I felt a great sense of belonging to HKU, and I look forward to fencing for HKU again soon!” said Summer.

As we celebrate this championship victory, we acknowledge the immense support from our students, staff, and families. Their encouragement has been instrumental in our journey to success.
